Traditional Firearm Class

All of our classes are offered by dedicated volunteer instructors at their convenience.

You must be age 11 or older to be tested or receive a certificate of completion.

Hunter education classes offered in the metro area (Lancaster, Douglas and Sarpy Counties) will be listed. To see what is available in those counties, click here. If nothing is listed, there aren't any classes currently scheduled by a volunteer instructor. Please check back at a later date.

All of the classes held in the remaining 90 counties are offered by volunteer instructors at their convenience. These classes may be advertised on our page. Click here.

NOTE - Most often in the remaining 90 counties the volunteer instructor will advertise locally. To find out when your local instructor is offering a class you will need to ask them.

Because they are a volunteer we do not provide contact phone numbers and would suggest that your local phone book would be the best resource to locate them. You can find firearm instructors or find bow instructors via our website.

NOTE - Due to a lack of staffing we do not keep waiting lists. For those living in Douglas, Sarpy or Lancaster Counties, look on the bottom of the available classes page to place yourself on a list to receive one e-mail notification when the next class in your county is scheduled.

I can't find any classes to fit my needs. What other options are there?
Firearm independent study.

Are there any waivers or exemptions for military or police? No.

Can I hunt without having completed a course? Yes, if you obtain a Hunter Education Exemption Certificate issued to you under special circumstances for this calendar year and then ONLY while being accompanied at all times while hunting. What do you mean by accompanied?
