Certificate Of Completion

You must carry on your person some form of proof you have completed a firearm course any time you are hunting anything with a firearm or crossbow and when hunting deer, antelope, elk or mountain sheep with bow and arrow.

Do I have to carry my actual certificate of completion with me when hunting?
Yes, if you are a resident hunter age 12 through age 15 - because, you are not required to be licensed for some forms of hunting, like small game. In effect your certificate of completion is your "hunting license" for general hunting.

In addition a non-resident age 12 through age 29 and every resident age 16 through age 29 must also have proof they have completed the course with them while hunting. If you allow us we will print this proof on your permits and licenses free of charge.

What benefit is this to me?
Everyone who uses our internet based permitting system has a profile that is created to identify them, as a part of this profile you may including your valid hunter and/or bowhunter education information. Once we have this information in our records about you it will be printed on all your permits and licenses meeting the legal requirement on carrying proof of completion. You will NOT have to carry anything extra for this proof.

How do I enter my information into my profile?
If you want to enter your valid information now, click here and then on the "update profile" link. Warning - entering non-valid information voids your proof and will not meet the legal requirements.

I am going out of state hunting what are their requirements?
Other states and countries have different requirements on who is required to have completed the course and what type of course they must have completed. You may have to present your certificate of completion to that state to purchase a hunting license. They most likely will not honor your number printed on a Nebraska permit or license as valid proof. You should plan on having your certificate of completion with you. Click here to learn more about education requirements for traveling hunters.

How long is my certificate of completion good for?
A Nebraska Certificate of Completion is valid for your lifetime in Nebraska.
