The following waters are open to non-powered vessels and those powered with conventional outboard electric motors only, except as posted and excepting Commission management and law enforcement activities.

Non-Public Lakes and Assocations

Special regulations govern operation of vessels, including water skiing and other related activities, on waters administered by non-public lake associations. They must be approved by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Attorney General, Secretary of State and Governor. These rules apply to the bodies of water listed below. If you boat on non-public waters, contact the local lake association for rules and regulations that apply there.

Closed Water


Waters closed to all motor boating except for Nebraska Game and Parks Commission employees engaged in law enforcement and management activities, include the following:

  • CHADRON STATE PARK (9 mi. S of Chadron, Dawes Co.)
  • KELLER PARK STATE RECREATION AREA (3 mi. W and 9 mi. N of Long Pine, Brown Co.)
  • NIOBRARA STATE PARK (1 mi. S and 1/2 mi. W of Niobrara, Knox Co.)
  • TWO RIVERS SRA (1 mi. S and 1 mi. W of Venice, Douglas Co.)
  • VICTORIA SPRINGS (7 mi. E of Anselmo, Custer Co.)

WATERS CLOSED TO ALL BOATS

Waters closed to all boats except for Nebraska Game and Parks Commission employees engaged in law enforcement and management activities, include the following:

  • Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge (Mo. River Mile Marker 633.05 to 638.05, Washington Co.) The "Boyer Chute" portion of the refuge is closed to all watercraft as posted.
  • BADER MEMORIAL LAKES (7 pits - 1-3 acres. 2S Chapman, Merrick Co.)
  • RANDALL W. SCHILLING WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA LAKE (Cass Co.)
  • TWO RIVERS SRA LAKE #5 (Douglas Co.)
  • ALL STATE FISH HATCHERY AREAS UNLESS OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED BY THE NEBRASKA GAME AND PARKS COMMISSION
