Required Lighting
All vessels of every description, in use from sunset to sunrise, shall
display lights as specified. No other lights may be used, except a spotlight
for difficult navigation.
Every white light prescribed shall be visible at a distance of at least
two miles. Every colored light prescribed shall be visible at a distance of
at least one mile, showing green to starboard and red to port and
screened to show from dead ahead to 22.5 degrees rearward on the
respective side.
All sailboats, when mechanically powered, shall display the lights
required for that class of mechanically powered boat.
All motorboats and sailboats shall carry a lantern or flashlight for
emergencies.
All vessels while at anchor shall display the 360ø white light except
while anchored in a docking or anchorage area.
