October
Fishing
Trout are being stocked in lakes all over Nebraska in October to increase fishing opportunities. Try using nightcrawlers, spoons, spinners, or PowerBait.
Panhandle
Smith Lake - October can be prime time for taking largemouth bass and northern pike. Fishing can improve as the vegetation recedes in the lakes and water temperatures cool.

Carter P. Johnson Lake - Trout fishing will just get better through October, and channel catfishing will slow but fish still will be available. Stocked with 1,700 trout the week of Oct. 20.
